Course Description
The TEFL course is offered to advanced-level students who want to Teach English as a Foreign Language (mono-linguistic classes) outside of North America.?Registrants must have a minimum English language proficiency of VEC Level 10.
Beginning with an overview of the main ESL teaching styles and theories, the course covers grammar, pronunciation, listening and speaking skills in the first two weeks. During this time, participants are given ample opportunity to implement their knowledge in a simulated classroom environment and to observe VEC teachers setting up and monitoring various language activities.
In the final two weeks of the program, grammar and communication teaching skills will be evaluated in a supervised, 26-hour teaching practicum. The remaining content of the TEFL program will be devoted to teaching reading and writing skills.
