  • Study the key concepts and vocabulary used in marketing. Case studies are used. Discussion topics include: marketing strategies and entrepreneurship.

    Study the key concepts and vocabulary used in the global economy. Discussion topics include: international trade, import/export, investing, and the stock and bond markets.

    Course Highlights

    • Acquire knowledge of basic marketing concepts and related vocabulary.
    • Practice marketing vocabulary in a supervised communicative environment.
    • Develop a marketing strategy and explain it in a group presentation.

    Course Outline

    Week One: What is Marketing?, Marketing Environment, Marketing Segmentation, or Marketing Zoo
    Week Two: Market Research, Developing the Product, Pricing to Sell, Advertising, Public Relations
    Week Three: Distribution, Retailing, Marketing on the Internet
    Week Four: International Marketing, Visit to a Vancouver Marketing Firm, Marketing Plan Presentations, Assessment.

    Course Materials

    The teacher provides handouts, as well as the school textbook New International Business English You will review current literature, including The Battle for your Mind. We also use television commercials and documentaries.
