  • Job Skills is helpful to anyone who will be interacting in a Canadian workplace. All students enrolled in the Business Internship Program are required to complete this four-week morning course. Students not enrolled in the Business Internship Program may also apply for admission to Job Skills.

    Course Highlights

    • Prepare to work efficiently in an English-language environment.

    Course Outline

    Week One: Introductions, Library Research, Resumes, Tense Review.
    Week Two: Interviewing Skills, News Articles, Gerunds, Infinitives, Comparisons, Adverbs.
    Week Three: Meetings, News Articles, Business Meetings, Role-plays, Prepositions.
    Week Four: Negotiation Tactics, Telephone Skills, Modal Review.

    Course Materials

    The teacher provides handouts and newspaper articles, as well as the VEC AM BINT textbook and grammar textbook.

    15 hours per week

    Prerequisites

    VEC Level 6A (Upper Intermediate).

    Teachers

    All VEC Teachers are university graduates with formal specialized TEFL / TESL training and experience teaching English.
