In Vancouver, you can obtain fast emergency assistance by dialing 911 on the telephone.
911 gives you direct access to the fire department, police department and ambulances. If you are reporting an emergency from a public pay phone, you do not need to insert any coin fare. You should notify the Vancouver English Centre of any emergency directly after calling the officials.
If you want to contact the fire department, police department and ambulances in a situation that is not urgent, you can find the telephone numbers in the blue pages of the telephone directory. In the Metro Vancouver SuperPages book, these numbers are also on the inside front cover.
