Our schools in Guadalajara and Canada offer TEFL Programs, as well as practicum positions to teachers in training.

An Intensive Curriculum
The TEFL Program in Guadalajara is an intensive 4-week course. The 140-hour program combines theory instruction with practical classroom experience. The program runs concurrently with the English program at VLC. Students are assigned to a mentor teacher and play an active role in his or her classroom for the duration of the course. Students also have the opportunity to observe a variety of EFL classes in progress and experience the operational realities of a language school from the first day of class to the final exam.

Program Prerequisites:
People wishing to take the TEFL Certification Program are not required to have experience teaching languages. All TEFL students will receive sufficient practicum time in the classroom to gain the confidence and experience to be able to conduct efficient, productive classes upon graduating. It is recommended that students have post-secondary education.
Students who do not speak English as their native language require a 243 TOEFL score (computer-based) or a Grade B Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency.

TEFL-Teaching English as a Foreign Language A highly specialized and intensive 4-week course designed to give you the tools to teach English in any country. Based on the Cambridge-Oxford and Celta format, this course is challenging, grammar-filled and rewarding! Be prepared to put in full days of classroom study, observation and practice.

Part of the course is teaching classes. Our ESL school offers seven levels of Grammar and Conversation so you, the teacher in training, have the opportunity to observe different teaching styles and levels. This course also prepares you for job search upon completion.

Upon completion of this course you receive your Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Our TEFL course is approved by SEP, Secretaria de Educacion Publica, for Mexico. Our graduates are frequently hired by VLC. We pride ourselves in offering the best possible education in the TEFL field.
