24-week Business Internship Program

Study: 5-Jun-10 – 24-Sept-10

Internship: 27-Sep-10 – 17-Dec-10

Paid Internship in a Computer and IT company

First of all, I would like to thank Wendy, her assistant, Parinda and Stephanie for all the support given to me through the time I studied at Vancouver English Centre (VEC), while I was working and until the end for arrangement of T2200. Thank you so much. You all are great!!

I wish to share with other students what I have experienced through my study and internship. I found I have improved my English communication significantly while I was studying at VEC. Grammar classes were excellent. Once you learn grammar in depth and clearly understand it all, then you will not forget it when it is time to use it.

I took the Pronunciation Course with Catherine. I had chance to practice seriously how to pronounce. She taught me how to pronounce and I could see my improvement. Now I am so confident when talking in English with Canadians and foreigners. I can say I would not be as I am today without my teacher, Catherine. I can pronounce correctly what was hard for Thais such as “s”, “the”. “ed”.

I was so lucky having a chance to study with many great teachers from John in Business Grammar and Writing Course, Jeffrey in Business Basics and the famous grammar class level 11 with Mahnaz. Teachers are ethical and pay attention to their students. I was also happy with the communication classes that provided opportunities for students to discuss various topics, to exchange views and experiences, to do presentations or even to play games related to the topics being taught. It was a practical way for students to practice how to explain their concepts in words.

Business Internship Class was very typical. Students need to participate in debates, to prepare presentations, and to complete each assignment on time. It was great to prepare students to get ready for their internship. We were trained how to have business phone calls…what to say. It was so useful. We could later apply it at work.

For my internship, the employer chose me because I had experience working as a programmer dealing with machine learning in particular. It is quite a specific field that there are not many in the market. I have learned a lot more while working with the employer for example, mathematics theories, Naïve Bayesian Classifier, scoring algorithm. To make it easy, it is about data classification, prediction and scoring.

I am very satisfied with and proud of my internship. Thank you, VEC
