Restaurant Owner: Today's special is l asagne and sal ad, with a br ead roll , foll owed by str awberries and mel on for desser t.
Student: What kind of sal ad dr essing comes with the sal ad?
Restaurant Owner: You can choose between R ussian, Thousand Isl and, or oil and vinegar .
Student: It all sounds r eall y good! Can I make a r eser vation for thr ee, pl ease?

Student: Can you help me p lease? Can you take our p icture in Stanley P ark?
Joe: Sure, I'll help you! Stand over there and I'll take your p icture in f ront of the totem p oles.

Joe: Smile! There - f inished. You were laugh ing and looked really cheerf ul!
Student: Thanks a lot! Can you suggest other good p laces to take p retty p ictures of Vancouver? I want to take them home to show my p arents.
Joe: How about Canada P lace, or Cap ilano Susp ension Bridge? Or f rom the top of Cyp ress Mountain!

Student: Excuse me, I s pilled s ome juic e on my sh irt and some ic e cream on my sh orts. Where can I wash my clothes?
Homestay: You can wash them downs tairs in the bas ement, in the laundry room.
Student: I'm not s ure how to use the mach ine. Can you sh ow me, please?
Homestay: S ure! Firs t, you sh ould s ort your clothes into a light and a dark pile. Then, put the clothes in the wash er. Next, add s ome laundry s oap.
Student: How much s oap sh ould I use?
Homestay: Not too much. Use the s mall measuring cup. After you've added the s oap, jus t turn the mach ine on. The wash c ycle takes about twenty minutes .
Dialogue for S / Th
Mayumi: What shall we do this weekend?
Fernando: We could go shopping to either Robs on S treet or Kits ilano, if you'd like.
Mayumi: No, we always go shopping. How about s taying home and watching a movie ins tead? I've got "Th elma and Louise" and "S tar Wars".
Fernando: I don't feel like doing that. Too bad there's no more s now left on Grous e Mountain - we could have gone s kiing or s nowboarding, or even s nowshoeing.
Mayumi: There's always S tanley Park. We could go s kateboarding or roller-blading, or rent bic ycles.
Fernando: We've done that th ree times already. Can't you th ink of anyth ing else?
Mayumi: There are lots of interesting th ings to look at in Chinatown. Or we could go over to Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver.
Fernando: So many choices! Can I th ink about it?

Teacher: Maria, what country are you from?
Student: I'm from V enezuela, from Caracas.
Teacher: Is this your first time in V ancouv er?
Student: Yes. I'v e nev er trav elled b efore. I'm v ery excited to b e here!
Teacher: What did you do in Caracas?
Student: I worked in a b ank. I was a B ank Manager.
Teacher: How long do you plan to stay in V ancouver?
Student: My v isa is for eight months, b ut hopefully I can stay longer. I plan to go trav elling after I finish studying at V EC. Can you recommend any places to v isit?
Teacher: B C is a v ery beautiful prov ince. Besides V ancouv er, you could also go over to V ancouv er Island and v isit V ictoria. There are b eautiful places in other prov inces too, like B anff in Alb erta. If you really like to trav el, you could even go to Nov a Scotia. Canada is a v ery b ig country with lots to offer v isitors.
