COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is intended for mixed-level ESL learners (VEC levels 6-9) who need to increase their confidence and proficiency with listening and speaking in order to communicate more effectively. Students are not able to take regular afternoon communication classes or need to practice conversation skills all day in order to match high grammar level.

CAM 1 engages participants in a range of interactive activities corresponding to the weekly topic. They study appropriate vocabulary and grammar, as well as give opinions and advice on the topic. Learners are provided with ample speaking time, working mainly in pairs or small groups.

While primarily a communication class, the teacher combines oral with writing skills. Special attention is given to the creation of mini-dialogues in pairs or small groups, so that, small groups may participate in and observe useful class dramatisations about real life
