Dress for Success: Appropriate attire for your Business Internship Practicum

Appropriate Dress for Business Internship Students

Your dress is important! Prospective employers may reject you if you have a shabby, unprofessional appearance, so it's important to "dress for success."

Most interns find that it is less expensive to bring business attire with them than to buy it in Canada. Please be sure to bring several changes of business clothing with you.

Dress Suggestions for Women

For women, a jacket, skirt, blouse, nylon stockings, and leather shoes (formal) or a jacket, blouse, and slacks with dark leather shoes. Colours should be conservative or neutral like black, brown, or grey, or muted colours for the jacket, skirt, and pants and stockings. Socks can be worn with slacks but should be black.

Consider bringing both types of outfits to be ready for any type of job situation. Absolutely no blue jeans, sweat pants, or running shoes..

Dress Suggestions for Men
