Economic concepts and vocabulary in an overview of the economy in British Columbia. Discussion topics include: Tourism, Film and Television, Hospitality, and Information Technology.
Course OutlineWeek One: Tourism Focus: Readings, Debates, Listening, Field Trip, Expressing Numbers.
Week Two: Tourism Focus: Trends, Vocabulary, First Presentation, Statistics.
Week Three: Information Technology Focus: terminology & Acronyms, E Concepts, Debates, Readings, Research Project.
Week Four: Film & TV Focus: Media Review Analysis, Discussion of Articles, Trends, Second Presentation.
Course MaterialsThe teacher provides photocopies of newspaper and Internet articles, as well as the New International Business English textbook.
Study Hours15 hours per week
PrerequisitesVEC Level 5A (Upper Intermediate).
TeachersAll VEC Teachers are university graduates with formal specialized TEFL / TESL training and experience teaching English.
