Professional (Unpaid) Internship in a system engineering company
For my job here, I like it even if it was quite new for me when I started. I had to read a lot and self study very hard like a crazy girl….hahaha because nobody here has ever worked on the software that I'm using here before. I drive to customer's factory by myself, and work with them without any supervision. It made me more confident to talk and deal with others.
I got lost while driving back home on the first day I drove to the customer's plant in North Burnaby. I got into a wrong lane for left turn while I wanted to go straight. After that, I just kept driving on that way that I did not have any idea where I was. Finally, I decided to turn into a gas station to find a map. When I walked into the store, I headed to a shelf with maps for sale and tried to find where I was. A cashier asked me where I wanted to go. After I answered him, he kindly told me the way to go back home. That was so funny as I was in Coquitlam. It is pretty far away from the plant that I left for home.
I had a great time with my internship. All workers in the company are so nice and helpful. They always pick me up in the morning and drop me off after work. I think I am so lucky. I also got a free ticket for a Giant’s hockey game on a Friday from my company. That is one of the hockey teams in Vancouver.
I really want to say “thank you” to Wendy and her assistant who found this job for me and thank to everybody who supported me with everything when I was studying in Vancouver English Centre (VEC).
